Russian and Chinese experts will promote the development of the dairy industry together

The Chinese-Russian forum on nutrition and dietology, dedicated to the "World day of health of the gastrointestinal tract", was held recently in Moscow. The event was organized by the China Nutrition society (CNS) and the Federal research center for nutrition, biotechnology and food safety (FIC) in cooperation with Mengniu Danone Joint Venture.
The forum provided the first opportunity for Russian and Chinese experts to officially exchange views on nutrition, to reach consensus on the importance of awareness-raising among consumers about the benefits of probiotic dairy products. As a result of the forum, CNS and FIC signed a Protocol of intent in the field of strategic cooperation. Partner organizations will increase cooperation in the field of healthy food, as well as stimulate the training of specialists in dairy production technologies. For this purpose they will contribute to the intensification of bilateral trade and the development of the dairy industry, providing guidance and legal support for the smooth trade of dairy products in both countries.

With the growth of total amounts of consumption, education of conscious attitude to health and sanitary education of consumers is becoming more important than material profit.  Director of CNS Yang Yuexin commented: "The Chinese consume less dairy products every day than necessary. And this is especially true of drinks with active probiotics. Therefore, it is very important to tell people about the benefits of such substances for their health."

A similar situation with the use of beverages containing active probiotics is observed in Russia. "Meat, eggs and dairy products predominate in the food structure of the European population. The volume of consumption of dairy products by Russians meets the recommended standards, but we still need to raise people's awareness about the benefits of active probiotics", - said Svetlana Sheveleva, head of the laboratory of biosafety and analysis of nutrimicrobiom at the Federal research center for nutrition, biotechnology and food safety.

Taking into account the current situation, one of the leading Chinese brands of dairy products, the company Mengniu is doing its best to promote international exchange and consumer education. Mengniu and Danone have joined forces in the production of fresh yogurt containing high-quality useful bacteria from Danone, with the full use of research capacity, reference production technologies and strict quality control system of the world giant in dairy industry. Partner companies are working together to bring a future where Chinese consumers will have access to high-quality food produced to the same quality standards and using the same production technologies as European and other regions of the world.
