Russian government is likely to reject the idea of palm oil excise tax introduction. The administration will be difficult, and the producers will start using other trans fats, explained a person close to the situation.
He added, that after the market and possible after-effects of the tax were analyzed the government impeached the idea of palm oil excise tax introduction. There are too many substitutes which will also need to be taxed. Imposition of tax on other trans fats may make this process endless. It may have a negative impact on the industry, commented another expert.
