Russian import of dairy products decreased 2.6 times during January-March 2015

During the period from January to March 2015 Russian import of dairy products decreased by 2.6 times and totaled 822.5 thousand tons.
Whole milk products import dropped by 20%, skim milk powder – by 2.5 times, condensed milk – by 2 times, cheese – almost by 2 times. Import decreased by 900 thousand tons on milk basis. Import of young cheese and curd decreased by 100 thousand tons.
Since the food embargo is imposed Russian import of dairy products on milk basis decreased by 1.3 mln tons. Monthly import of dairy products (without CU countries) dropped by 0.4 mln tons – mainly due to cheese and curd (0.8 mln tons), butter (0.2 mln tons), dry whey and milk (0.2 mln tons) imports decrease.
