Russian milk production in January reached 1.9 million tons

In January 1.9 million tons of milk was produced in all categories of Russian farms. This is 0.7% more compared to the level of January 2015 and 10.6% less compared to December 2015, according to Rosstat data.
Production of cattle and poultry for slaughter during the period under consideration increased by 3.5%, pig population grew by 9.9%, sheep and goat population increased by 0.8%. As of end of January 2016 cattle population in all types of farms totaled 19 million heads, what is 1.4% less compared to the same date of the previous year. Cow population reached 8.4 million heads (-1.5%). Pig population grew by 9.9% to 21.9 million, sheep and goat – by 0.8% to 24.5 million.
