Saint Petersburg: Milk machines are in service again, though raw milk may disappear
Raw milk sales through vending machines in Saint Petersburg (Russia) were prohibited on 19 June after several cases of intestinal habits were detected in the city. An expert report of Federal Supervision Agency for Customer Protection and Human Welfare (Rospotrebnadzor) proved all the examined machines match the requirements of the Technical Regulations for Milk and Dairy Products “Extra Class milk” and do not have pathogens, after what the machines were put into service again.
Rospotrebnadzor still insists on selling only pasteurized milk in Saint Petersburg, told Gennady Onishchenko, Russia's Chief Hygiene Authority, to the journalists on Wednesday. Summer and beginning of autumn – is the period, when intestinal diseases reach their peak, this measure is aimed at keeping people’s health.
