Sales of Russian ice cream increased in China during the pandemic
For half of the people in China, ice cream has become a home dessert this year. Usually 80% of sales occur in the summer, but in 2020, ice cream began to be bought even in the cold period.
In the first quarter of the year in Russia, according to Rosstat, the production of ice cream increased by 13.4% in annual terms — to 11,854. 44 million tons. According to the REC (Russian export center), 14.9% of total exports in the first quarter were ice cream deliveries to China. The export of ice cream during this time increased in general by more than 9% in annual terms.
Russian ice cream, as noted in China, appeared in the country in 2016. It is popular for its milky taste and good quality. Manufacturers in the Russian Federation are developing new types of products, such as bright colored ice cream.
Experts note that people want to support themselves with ice cream in difficult times.
