Sales of Valio products increased by more than 15% in the first quarter
The drivers of sales growth in the first quarter were processed cheese, ultra-pasteurized milk and lactose-free milk, as well as plant-based beverages and drinking water. In particular, the volume of sales of plant-based beverages was more than three times higher than in the same period of 2019, water - by more than 30%, and lactose-free milk - by 37%. The second half of March was particularly dynamic in terms of consumer demand growth: in week 11, the overall growth compared to 2019 exceeded 24%, and in week 12 - 38 %. The company also notes that the indicators that the market showed in February this year replaced the sharp surge in demand in March in April.
- The sales volume during the first three months of the year corresponds to the indicators of the new year period, which is traditionally characterized by high demand. The range, which is leading in terms of demand, clearly demonstrates the market trends. Consumers in the current circumstances are simultaneously striving to provide themselves with basic products with high shelf life, and at the same time, against the background of increasing issues of maintaining health and quality of life, products that contribute to well-being, such as vitamin-rich plant-based beverages and lactose-free milk, are of particular importance, - said Elena Kipenyova, senior Vice President of LLC “Valio”.
The company notes a steady increase in consumer interest in online retailers. According to Valio, the volume of sales of the largest online retailers in the Russian Federation in 2020 increased by more than 3 times. In this regard, Valio announces the restructuring of the order service on its own website, which will integrate with the leading online stores in Moscow and St. Petersburg.

Even in the conditions of difficult work in the market, Valio continues to add new products to the range.
