Saratov and Cheboksary dairy plants have joined the third stage of labeling

According to Olga Makarkina, head of the marketing department of  Saratov Dairy Plant and Cheboksary City Dairy Plant, the third stage of labeling has been launched at the enterprises in the normal mode. At the same time, representatives of enterprises noted that the timing of the response from the support service of the CATD made them worry about whether the dairy plants would have time to prepare on time, writes The DairyNews.

‘We are ready, we have no disruptions and failures, since December 1 of this year our products will be labeled according to the established rules.

The two enterprises use different types of labeling — typographic and factory, when the application of DataMatrix codes is carried out at the sites of enterprises using printers and applicators.

Both dairy plants joined the labeling on September 1, 2021 and began labeling ultra-pasteurized products. Including milk. At the third stage, DataMatrix codes are applied to fresh products.

According to the head, there were difficulties during the installation of equipment, of course, as they always arise with the introduction of new projects, installation and configuration of equipment. Factory specialists "work well", they coped with all the difficulties themselves without disrupting production processes.

Factories on their own, without the help of the "Honest mark" system, chose suppliers of equipment for labeling, having previously monitored them. However, there were some not critical delays in the supply of equipment.

‘Difficulties arose with registration in the "Honest mark" system itself, when the system either crashed or the positions were not loaded,’ Olga Makarkina said. ‘I had to call the support service of the "Honest mark" system a lot, and it works quite hard, because the calls are received by operators who cannot immediately answer the question and suggest what needs to be done promptly, they answer according to the template: "Your appeal is accepted, wait." If there were competent specialists, they could immediately solve some "petty" issues that can be solved easily. Then they write to me that the appeal has been accepted, after a few days a specialist connects, begins to sort out my problem, send me letters, I answer, correspondence is started, which takes time. It is unclear what all this is for. And it is very inconvenient when you know it could be possible to solve the issues with one call. And time goes by, and you're afraid that you won't make it before the deadline.

When asked whether the costs associated with labeling will be included in the cost of dairy products, the head of the marketing department replied that in any case the products will not become cheaper.

‘In addition to the equipment, dairy enterprises acquire the code themselves, and these are also additional costs,’ she explained. ‘The rise in price has already begun, each plant determines for itself since what date. For some, it has already passed, for others it will begin in the near future.’
