Sergey Sirotin: Ecolean will not develop solutions for applying the marking code in the production of packaging
- After analyzing the data on labeling, we decided not to carry out further developments regarding the application of the code directly in the production of packaging. Due to the possibility of contact between the surface of the printed code (ink) and the inner surface of the package in contact with the product. And also, this process, taking into account the high speed of production lines at our enterprise, has a very high cost of technical implementation, as well as a significant increase in the cost of packaging", he said. -According to our data, the most budget solution on the market has a cost of at least 3 million rubles per line.
The CATD has repeatedly stated that the manufacturer has a choice of three solutions for labeling: printing the code in the printing house, where they produce packaging for products (it will cost 1/10 of a kopeck per unit of product), using labels (1 kopeck) or printing directly at the production site, which will require equipping the lines with a printer and scanner (approximately 4 kopeck). According to the information available to the CATD from the industry, 70% of companies will use the services of printing houses, 30% will choose the option with labeling.
In contrast to these statements, there are objective opinions of manufacturers who say the following: defects in the application of the brand/code, errors due to human factors, technological features of dairy production - all this leads to very expensive solutions for the implementation of labeling.
Yulia Osipova, a representative of the Uvarovsky cheese and butter factory, in another article in the “Authors" section, spoke about the problem of labeling on polyfoil.
- Manual application of labels with a code, as in the case of shoes, is excluded since such application is possible only after packaging the product. However, neither the application immediately after the packaging machine, nor the application after cooling the product in the refrigerator chamber are possible due to the softness of the product in the first case and the formation of condensate in the second. Also, when applying manually, you need to print all the codes on the reel with labels at once, which excludes other ways of applying the brand, - writes Yulia Osipova.
According to the expert, a standard set for one packaging machine will cost at least 2.5 million rubles.
Later, in her Facebook post, Yulia Osipova wrote that according to the estimates of solution providers, the minimum cost of a project with 1-2 production lines will be about 100 thousand euros (~7 million rubles).
Individual processing companies in conversations with The DairyNews reported that in the first year, the cost of labeling would be from 150 to 330 million rubles.
