Soyuzmoloko asks the Ministry of Agriculture to increase subsidies to milk producers
Head of Soyuzmoloko, Artem Belov, confirmed this information, but did not comment on the initiative in detail, saying that the issue is under discussion.
As The Dairy News has already written, the dairy industry survived the pandemic year 2020 relatively easily; the production of raw milk and dairy products continued to grow, although the growth rate decreased. Milk consumption also generally increased.
According to analysts of Dairy Intelligence Agency, there is an imbalance in the segment: the state mainly supports the largest players, the concentration of milk production is growing both in individual regions and in the country as a whole.
Last year, the volume of raw milk production in Russia amounted to 20.7 million tons, which is 5.4% more than in 2019. The average productivity indicator reached 4,625 kg per cow per year in 2020, 8.9% higher than in 2019 and 33.5% higher than in 2013.
According to the National Report on the results of the implementation of the State Program for the Development of Agriculture, in 2020 it was planned to allocate 271.8 billion rubles to the industry, of which 271.2 billion rubles were allocated on different activities. In particular, 34.2 billion rubles were allocated to support crop production and animal husbandry (a compensating subsidy).
