Stefan Duerr: coronavirus convinced a Chinese buyer to consume more dairy products
- Now we have Chinese partners again. According to them, the growth of milk consumption in China is more dynamic at present than before the coronavirus. The situation with the pandemic has convinced them that they need to consume more milk and dairy products, - said Stefan Duerr, quoted by The DairyNews.
According to the expert, exchange-traded products, including milk powder, are important for export. However, in these categories, the Russian Federation has no competitive advantages other than price.
- If we sell three kopecks cheaper than New Zealand, our milk powder will be bought. There is a prospect in the sector of products with a long shelf life. We have a certain advantage - we are not so far from China and can supply products with shorter shelf life, which is well perceived by the consumer. For example, up to 30 days, - said Stefan Duerr.
He also stressed that China will never be able to fully provide itself with milk. At least because they can't provide cows with forages.
