Stefan Durr: the dairy industry needs one union
- I am convinced that the industry needs one union that would take into account and express the interests of all dairy producers, - said Durr. - It is clear that the interests of the farmer with a herd of 20 animals and the interests of PepsiCo are different. The processors, who dry milk, have some interests; regional dairy producers have other interests. We should discuss this within the framework of the association and form an agreed opinion.
According to him, "if you look to the future, you can’t but take into account the process of vertical integration, which occurred in poultry and pig farmers."
- I'm sure the dairy farmers will find the same. Look what is happening: "Molvest" is increasingly focusing on the production of milk; we are going into processing, "Komos Group", "Green Valley" are gaining momentum - gave examples the Head of "EkoNiva". - I think we are all moving towards market consolidation and vertical integration. This does not mean that in this case there will be no room for farmers with small livestock. We just need to understand which room is this.
