Sverdlovsk dairy plants had about 1 billion rubles of losses due to competition with products made of milk powder
"On the shelves there appeared a lot of products made of a substitute - milk powder, and the consumer began to buy what was cheaper. They (products made of milk powder - IF) replaced products made in Sverdlovsk region which are famous for high-quality milk. As a result, quality milk is forced to compete with milk powder. Dairy plants could not work below their profitability and reduced the purchase price for their products. On January 1, the average price was 23.80 rubles, at the end of April - 20.40 rubles per 1 kg", the Minister said.
According to him, the farmers during a meeting with the Governor of Sverdlovsk region told him that this problem had reached its peak now. In this regard at present the amount of compensation to farmers is being calculated. The Minister reminded that 150 million rubles have already been allocated to agricultural producers this year as support.
