Swiss cheese will be available in Russia
Swiss cheese makers may increase their market presence in Russia as far as Switzerland is not among the countries “under Russian sanctions”. Experts believe the country can potentially increase cheese exports to Russia.
As forecasted by market participants, Switzerland, not a EU member, may increase export of aged and fresh cheese to Russia. According to Federal Customs Service data, in QI 2014 Switzerland exported to Russia 92 tons of cheese and curd at the amount of 1052 thousand US dollars. In the same period of 2013 the country supplied to Russia 71 tons of cheese and curd (HS Code 0406).
One of the most famous Swiss cheeses is Gruyere cheese. The company РЕММА plans to keep the current volumes of exports to Russia and even increase them.
According to Bern companies Switzerland Cheese Marketing SA (SCM) and TSM Fiduciaire Sàrl, among export “leaders” in 2013, besides Emmental and Gruyere, were Appenzeller, Raclette, Tete de Moine, Vacherin Fribourgeois and Vacherin Mont-d'Or, Sbrinz and Tilsiter.
