Tatmolsoyuz commented on the situation with the production of raw milk in the Republic of Tatarstan. According to the association, as of November 2021, milk production increased by 5.8 thousand tons compared to the same period last year, but at the same time the growth rate of commercial milk decreased, The DairyNews reports.

As previously reported by The DairyNews agency, the growth rate of commercial milk production in Russia may be below 1%, and Director of Dairy Intelligence Agency Mikhail Mishchenko stated that by the end of the year it may even approach zero, writes The DairyNews.

The Union of Milk Producers of the Republic of Tatarstan, with reference to the data of the regional Ministry of Agriculture, was informed that in the first nine months of this year, 1 million 494 thousand tons of milk were produced in all farms of the republic, which is 5.8 thousand tons more than the same period in 2020.

‘To date, the increase in milk production is 3% compared to the previous year,’ the official comment of the Tatmolsoyuz says. ‘The growth rate of commercial milk production has slowed down this year for a number of reasons. Firstly, due to the abnormal heat and drought in the spring-summer period, and secondly, due to the increase in the cost of milk production caused by an increase in prices for purchased feed, mineral fertilizers, building materials, fuels and lubricants, etc. Meanwhile, despite all the difficult conditions, there is an increase in the productivity of cows.

According to the information provided by the Tatmolsoyuz, the cost of raw milk production in 2021 increased by 15-25%, while the purchase price increased only by 7-9%.

Prices for purchased high-energy and high-protein feed increased by 50-70%. A decrease in the yield of the main feed - silage, haylage, hay - due to the abnormal heat and drought of 2021 led to an increase in their cost by 60-80%. For the same reason, the cost of concentrated feed of own production has increased by 30-50%.

‘In order to achieve the doctrine of food security for raw milk in the Russian Federation, it is necessary to increase the volume of its production by 1-1.2 million tons per year to the existing indicators, believe experts of the Tatmolsoyuz. ‘The decrease in the growth rate of milk yields of raw materials clearly shows that in order to maintain the dynamics of the development of the industry and prevent stagnation in the future, it is necessary to maintain all existing support measures, including compensation for the construction and modernization of production facilities until 2026, subsidies for 1 kg of milk sold. In addition, in the current difficult market conditions, additional support is needed for the purchase of mineral fertilizers, and the subsidy for 1 kg of milk sold should be increased to at least 5-7 rubles.

As stated in the official response, one of the main tasks for agricultural producers in the coming period will be to optimize costs and increase efficiency by increasing the productivity of animals, as well as the quality of raw milk. To do this, it is necessary to use lean manufacturing tools, lean technologies, in symbiosis with digitalization and improvement of the genetic potential of animals.
