The biggest raw milk producing complex in Russia is launched
The first party of Holstein-Friesian cattle from US has arrived to the new dairy complex Rusmolko in Penza Region. A 4,600 heads farm specialists plan to get 28-30 liters of milk per cow daily and up to 10,000 liters of milk per cow annually.
The project is being realized within the partnership between Olam International and Rusmolko. During the first stage of the project it is planned to invest 400 mln dollars before 2015 and to increase the dairy cattle population to 20,000 heads.
According to Naum Babaev, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Rusmolko, the current ban on import of cattle from Europe increases expenses, and together with other unsolved problems of dairy farming make business more complicated and decrease the sector’s investment attractiveness.
