‘Since the start of the mandatory labeling of cheeses and ice cream - on June 1, 2021 - manufacturers have introduced more than 150 million product codes. This means that the products have already arrived on store shelves or will arrive in the near future. Each buyer can check the quality and shelf life of the goods using the application "Honest mark",’ explained in the press service.
According to the operator, the labeing system continues to work stably; there are no complaints about mass problems in the technical support service of the CATD. ‘All private issues are promptly resolved by the operator, enterprises normally order codes and put them into circulation,’ added in the CATD.
Since September 1, the second stage of labeling for dairy products with an expiration date of more than 40 days will begin, and since December 1 - for products with an expiration date of less than 40 days. The withdrawal of dairy products with an expiration date of less than 40 days will occur in January 2022, and an expiration date of more than 40 days - in the summer of 2022. Since September 1, 2022, volume and variety accounting will be introduced. For farmers who will sell products directly or through retail, labeling will become mandatory since December 1, 2022. Per-item accounting of dairy products is introduced since December 1, 2023.
By 2024, Russia will create a unified national system for labeling and tracking goods. The Center for Advanced Technology Development, created on the basis of a public-private partnership, is the operator of the labeling system.
