Regions in the Central Federal district hope that the presidential envoy in Central Russia Alexey Gordeev, becoming Deputy Prime Minister for agriculture, will pay attention to the support of small and medium-sized businesses in agriculture. This was reported by experts on Monday.
On Monday, May 7, Dmitry Medvedev, nominated by the President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin to the post of Prime Minister, offered the candidacies of Maxim Akimov, Yuri Borisov, Tatiana Golikova, Olga Golodets, Alexey Gordeev, Vitaly Mutko, Dmitry Kozak and Konstantin Chuichenko to the posts of Vice-premiers. According to him, Gordeev in the new government will be responsible for agriculture.
"We hope that he [Gordeev] will pay attention to the support of small and medium-sized agricultural producers, namely the number of those who have access to state support measures. Because now the policy is aimed at supporting mainly large conglomerates, but it should be borne in mind that it is for small and medium - sized businesses to maintain the whole village", - said the President of the Agrarian Union of Tula region Oleg Zazimko. He added that Gordeev had a good reputation in Voronezh region, where he was Governor. "I consider him a professional in the agricultural sector, in my opinion, it is the right choice of the candidate," - said Zazimko.
Vladimir Zotikov, corresponding member of RAS, Deputy Director of the All-Russian research Institute of leguminous and cereal crops, has the same opinion. "Gordeev has coped with tasks in the field of agriculture for many years... he knows agriculture thoroughly; he is an academician of RAS in this area. My expectation - to pay attention not only to cereal crops which make about 70-75% now in structure of agriculture, but also development of vegetable growing, cultivation of legumes, in this area our regions have a huge potential ", - Zotikov noted.
According to the acting Governor of Voronezh region Alexander Gusev, who in December 2017 replaced Alexey Gordeev after his appointment as presidential Plenipotentiary envoy to the Central Federal district, the choice of the candidate "became correct".
"Alexey Vasilyevich is a highly professional person, a very good organizer, has extensive experience and knowledge in agriculture. Therefore, this decision, from my point of view, is extremely correct. In Voronezh region, there are now many agricultural projects in the implementation stage, so some investment revolutions in agriculture will not happen, but we will count on the help of Alexey Vasilyevich, because he knows our possibilities", Gusev said, adding that for six months in the position of presidential Plenipotentiary envoy Gordeev did not control the regions, but helped them in solving a number of problems, including in agricultural policy.
