The EU: Raw milk production increased by 1.9% in January-June 2020
The weighted average price of raw milk in the EU-27 slightly decreased in June 2020 to 32.58 Euro cents per kg (25.38 rubles per kg at the June exchange rate), 3.4% lower than in June 2019 and 4.9% higher than the average of the last five years. In July 2020, according to estimates, the price of raw milk decreased by another 0.2% to 32.5 Euro cents per kg (26.48 rubles per kg at the July 2020 exchange rate, taking into account the weakening of the ruble).
Prices for exchange-traded dairy products in the EU (as of August 23, 2020): the price of skimmed milk powder in summer remained at the same level, almost as well as in the summer of 2019, at the end of August 2020 amounted to 207 euros per 100 kg (180.7 rubles per kg at the exchange rate of August, also taking into account the weakening of the ruble), the August price of butter amounted to 340 Euro per 100 kg (296.8 rubles per kg), 4% lower 2019, the price of whole milk powder 272 Euro per 100 kg (237 rubles per kg), 4% below August 2019 the price of cheese has not changed much compared to last year, at the end of August, cheddar on average cost 296 euros per 100 kg (258.35 rubles per kg), Edam (268.8 rubles per kg). Overall, the dynamics are very good.
Exports of dairy products from the EU (excluding the United Kingdom) increased in January-June 2020 in tonnage for butter by +59%, for whole milk powder - by +15%, for cheese - by +10%, but the supply of skimmed milk powder decreased by 16% (this is due to a decrease in demand for skimmed milk powder from China in 2020).In total, in terms of milk, EU-27 exports in January-June 2020 were 3.1% higher than in 2019, and in value terms, export growth compared to 2019 was 5.1%.
