The experiment on the labeling of dairy products in Russia will begin in the near future - The Ministry of industry and trade
"We have an experiment on tobacco (on the labeling of tobacco products - ed.), on drugs, on shoes. In the near future it will begin on finished dairy products. The list will be expanded, there is an order of the Prime Minister that at least all the goods of the consumer market will be marked", Evtukhov said.
The Deputy Head of the Ministry of industry and trade noted that the labeling of products has positive effects for Russian consumers. "We will reduce and minimize the possibility for dishonest manufacturers and sellers to sell falsified, low-quality goods. This is important for our tax and customs authorities, for our budget", he said.
In addition, according to him, the labeling system is important for the enterprises themselves - for example, in terms of digitalization of business processes. Evtukhov also drew attention to the fact that the labeling of goods has proved its effectiveness after its launch for fur products.
"We've been talking about this effect for long: the market has become “white” in terms of money circulation almost 10 times. If earlier according to the statistics we had the sale of 300 thousand fur products on average, then immediately after the introduction of the system of mandatory labeling with responsibility, there were about 5 million applications for the purchase of control identification marks", - said the Deputy Head of the Ministry of industry and trade.
In 2016 the EAEU countries introduced mandatory labeling of fur coats and fur products with RFID tags. In addition, the Russian Federation launched experiments on labeling drugs, cigarettes and shoes with digital two-dimensional code. Until 2024 Russia is expected to create a system of continuous labeling and traceability of goods.
