The export of ice cream from Moscow in the first quarter of 2021 increased by 47.2

Moscow enterprises in the first quarter of 2021 increased the export of ice cream to $9.49 million, which is 47.2% more than the same level last year. Deputy Mayor of the capital for economic policy and property and land relations Vladimir Efimov reported this to TASS.

‘During the first quarter of 2021, the capital's enterprises sent ice cream to foreign markets for a total of $9.49 million in the amount of 4.16 thousand tons. The ice cream made in Moscow was delivered to 20 countries of the world. Compared to the same period last year, the share of the capital in the structure of all-Russian exports of these products increased in physical terms from 48% to 63%,’ he said. The leaders in the import of Moscow ice cream in the first quarter were the United States ($4.49 million), Kazakhstan ($2.38 million), China ($0.69 million), Canada ($0.60 million) and Bulgaria ($0.24 million).

According to Natalia Shuvalova, General Director of Export Support and Development Center ‘Mosprom’, Kazakhstan and other neighboring countries will remain potential markets for the capital's ice cream in the medium term. In addition, the products will be popular in Finland, the United States, Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates and Vietnam, she said.

The capital's export of ice cream shows a positive trend over the past five years, said Alexander Prokhorov, Head of the Department of Investment and Industrial Policy of Moscow. ‘Only in 2020, the capital's exports increased by 25.5% compared to 2019 - to $29.65 million. In physical terms, the indicator increased by 21.2% and amounted to 12.7 thousand tons,’ he said.

The ice cream from the capital was exported to 24 countries around the world by the end of 2020. Most of the capital's enterprises delivered ice cream to Kazakhstan, the United States, China, Canada and Belarus. These five countries accounted for 87% of total ice cream exports.

Among the leading countries, the highest price of export ice cream in 2020 was observed in Belarus ($5.4 per 1 kg), and the lowest price - in Canada ($1.45). The export of ice cream to China is also characterized by a relatively high price, its level last year was $4.26 per 1 kg. The lowest export price was in Ivory Coast ($1.14), and the highest - in Singapore ($14.39).
