The Federal Antimonopoly service didn’t find any cartel on the milk market, told the Head of the Department for combating cartels of FAS Andrey Tenishev to reporters.
"We have not seen any cartel, I swear," he said, answering the question of RNS, whether FAS analyzed the situation on the milk market in connection with the statements of milk producers about a possible price increase for dairy products.
"There were milk cartels, and we identified and punished them. But the milk market is highly competitive; and if there is an opportunity for milk producers to collude, it is somewhere within the subject of the Federation. Within the whole of Russia it is theoretically possible, but practically very difficult," — said the Tenishev.
He stressed that such statements can in some way affect the price of milk, but the analysis of them is done by a profile department of the FAS.
Earlier RNS reported that the FAS may issue a warning to "Soyuzmoloko" after analyzing the situation connected with public forecast for prices on dairy products.
The statement of the FAS followed after the national Union of milk producers ("Soyuzmoloko") sent a letter to the Minister of agriculture Alexander Tkachev with a warning about a possible price increase. Such fears, according to "Kommersant" with reference to the text of the letter were associated with the restriction of the Rosselkhoznadzor on the import of raw milk from regions with cases of animal diseases. According to market participants, such decisions will cause shortages of supply of raw milk.
