The Head of the Ministry of agriculture counts on the effect of embargo until 2020

The Head of the Ministry of agriculture of the Russian Federation Alexander Tkachev expects that the food embargo will be in effect until 2020. He said this in the lobby at the 40th session of the Conference of the Food and agriculture organization of the United Nations (FAO).
"We hope that this situation (food embargo - ed.) will continue to contribute to the increase in the volume of production and won’t be limited only to 2018. We expect it will last until 2020, and more," he said.
Earlier the President of Russia Vladimir Putin signed a decree on the extension of Russian counter-sanctions until 31 December 2018. A few days earlier, the European Union extended sanctions against Russia.
During the "Hot line" on June 15, Putin said that the issue of counter-sanctions will be decided depending on the relationship with partners, they will be removed when the restrictions against Russia are lifted. "We'll see how the relations with countries that impose restrictions on our economy will develop, - noted he. - As for the infinite prolongation of some limitations, if our partners will remove sanctions in relation to our economy, then we will have to do it too, because otherwise we will face problems in the WTO".
The growth of agricultural production in Russia in 2017 will not be below 3%, said Alexander Tkachev.
"We predict that it will not be below 3%, it would be very nice if it was 4%", - he said.
