The import of palm oil to Russia has increased by 26% in the first half of the year
In June the volume of import amounted to 67.7 thousand tons, which is 21.3% higher than in June last year, but 12.4% lower than in May 2018.
In January-June this year the import of coconut, palm kernel or babassu oil and their fractions to Russia decreased by 13% to 37 thousand tons. In June 2018 the import of these products amounted to 5.5 thousand tons, which is 26.8% less than in June 2017 and 34% less than in May this year.
The import of sunflower, safflower, cotton oil and their fractions for six months increased 1.7 times up to 15.2 thousand tons. Deliveries of products in June this year amounted to 1.5 thousand tons, which is 41.2% lower than in June last year and 26.2% lower than in May 2018.
According to Rosstat, the import of palm oil and its fractions to Russia in 2017 increased by 0.7% compared to 2016 up to 891 thousand tons. In July 2018 the amendments to the technical regulations on the safety of milk and dairy products came into force. Now manufacturers of dairy products are obliged to specify information about the presence of vegetable oil in the milk-containing product with a substitute for milk fat.
In addition, the Ministry of industry and trade of the Russian Federation have prepared a draft resolution, which contains proposals to place dairy products with milk fat substitutes in stores separately from dairy products, which do not contain such substitutes.
