The labeling system in Russia includes 290 thousand companies
‘15 billion packages of cigarettes have already been labeled, more than 3 billion medicines and almost 1.5 billion footwear products have been put into circulation,’ said the representative of the operator.
He mentioned that medicines, according to the system, are supplied from 56 countries, shoes – from 61 countries.
The system records data on the disposal of goods from half a million sales registers.
‘Today, almost 40% of pharmacies sell labeled medicines at the checkout, and we consider this to be a fairly high degree of penetration, because now there may be goods produced before July 1 without labeling on the market. And this product is gradually being withdrawn from circulation with new drugs,’ added Revaz Yusupov.
The labeling system involves the formation and analysis of big data, said Vladislav Zaslavsky, Deputy Director of the labeling Department of the Ministry of industry and trade.
‘Labeling was initially introduced as part of the decisions of the President and the government to counter illegal circulation, but, among other things, labeling will allow us to generate first of all reliable statistical information that is based not on business reports, which can be provided or not, but on objective data in online mode. As soon as the product is released, it immediately gets into the system,’ said the representative of the Department.
According to him, big data allows us to analyze the flow of goods, business activity, assess the risks of product shortages in the market, and evaluate consumer preferences.
‘The Ministry of industry and trade is currently developing a draft concept for the state information monitoring system, which will be based, among other things, on the data provided by the labeling system. We are starting to work on an objective and reliable analysis of those product groups that are a priority for monitoring and taking measures in the strategy to combat illegal circulation. The draft concept has been developed and we expect the government to adopt it this year. In any case, we have started to analyze individual product groups, and we will show the first results – tobacco – in January-February 2021,’ Vladislav Zaslavsky added.
Training seminars were held throughout the country to inform and educate employees of control, supervisory and law enforcement agencies, said Baisolt Khamzatov, Vice-President of the Anti-Counterfeit Association.
‘The Anti - Counterfeit Association together with the national operator of labeling "Honest mark" with the support of the Ministry of industry and trade of Russia held seminars in all Federal districts of the Russian Federation, so in 4 months we have covered the entire Russian Federation with training seminars,’ Khamzatov said.
