The Ministry of agriculture considers the growth of domestic demand for 2.6 million tons of milk to be prospective

The total revenue of the food and processing industry in Russia is growing and makes up 7 trillion rubles. However, the dairy industry accounts for 14% of the total, said the Head of Department of food and processing industry of the Ministry of agriculture of the Russian Federation Evgeny Akhpashev during the business forum "Production and processing of milk: strategy, analysis, technology, safety, quality".
According to Eugeny Akhpashev, honest processors of milk today are at a disadvantage.
There are a number of problems, which include: "price volatility both of raw materials and certain finished products; dependence on imported equipment, the volume of import which is more than $ 40 million per year; dependence on imported ferments, the share of which reaches up to 95%; the lack of growth of the purchasing power of the population," said Akhpashev.
According to the Director of the relevant Department the Ministry considers the increase in domestic demand by 1.9-2.6 million tons to be prospective, reports The DairyNews from the event.
"Domestic demand growth is possible in part through import substitution of milk powder for baby food production up to 40 thousand tons per year or 300 thousand tons of raw milk; switching of the domestic confectionery industry to domestic milk powder - up to 50 thousand tons annually; the reduction of falsification, which today occupies 5-8% of the market", - said the Head of the Department of the Ministry of agriculture.
Besides Evgeny Akhpashev reported that in 2017 the construction of a Biofactory for the production of bacterial concentrates and ferments was included in the list of objects of preferential investment crediting. Currently, the Ministry is developing relevant projects.
Earlier Dzhambulat Khatuov declared the necessity to develop the processing of milk.
