The Ministry of agriculture denied information about the increase in VAT for livestock to 20%
Earlier, the RG reported on the expansion of the list of children's imported goods, which will be taxed at a reduced rate of value added tax (VAT) that is not at 20, but at 10%. In the material of the RG it is noted that imported pedigree cattle, poultry and chicken egg will now be subject to VAT at the rate of 20% instead of 10. The new rules come into force on April 1.
However, the press service of the Ministry of agriculture did not confirm such data. The response of the Ministry to the request of The DairyNews says – "as of April 1, 2019 breeding agricultural animals: cattle, horses, sheep, goats, pigs, poultry, and semen obtained from breeding stallions, sheep, goats, hogs, embryos of farm animals, hatching eggs from pedigree birds are included in the List of codes of types of products exempted from taxation on value added listed in subparagraph 35 of paragraph 3 of article 149 and paragraph 19 of article 150 of the Tax code of the Russian Federation approved by the decree of the Government of the Russian Federation dated 20.10.2016 № 1069".
The List of codes of types of food products and goods for children, subject to value added tax at a tax rate of 10 percent, approved by the Government of the Russian Federation of 31.12.2004 № 908 taking into account the changes made by the government of the Russian Federation № 1487 of 06.12.2018), includes livestock and poultry in live weight, including cattle, sheep, goats, pigs, poultry (except pedigree animals). Thus, commodity cattle are subject to VAT at the rate of 10%, breeding cattle are not subject to VAT.
