The Ministry of Agriculture fighting "financial parasites"
The Deputy Minister of Agriculture, Dmitriy Yuriev, said that the debts of agricultural producers are not to be written off. According to Mr. Yuriev, that is a kind of “parasitizing” measure, which might harm the effective market participants, who pay the debts independently.
The current common debt of the sector estimates 2 billion rubles. At the beginning of the 2000-s, the Law on the financial restructuring of the agricultural sector was passed. Nevertheless, according to the lawmakers’ opinion, only 6% of agricultural companies managed to get rid of the debts by that time. Mr. Yuriev believes new amendments are necessary to solve the problem, and the Ministry is to represent them shortly. "At the moment we are summarizing international experience. We are likely to invent a new mechanism in a form of new amendments to the Law", - said Dmitriy Yuriev.
