The Ministry of industry and trade does not intend to postpone the terms for labeling products – Manturov

I can assure you that we are ready to quickly adjust the regulatory framework to meet the requirements of today, but, to be honest, neither the country's leadership nor our Department have a mood to postpone the deadlines for a particular nomenclature,’ he said.

According to the Minister, the Ministry of industry and trade is ready to assist in the implementation of labeling in technical terms, including providing preferential loans to enterprises.

‘We are ready, among other things, to adjust the regulations, but not concerning the postponement of deadlines, but concerning the adjustment of the technical procedure itself,’ the Minister said.

Since July 1, 2020, labeling of tobacco, medicines and shoes has become mandatory. By the end of this year, digital labeling of perfumes, photographic goods and tires will be introduced, and in 2021 - five groups of light industry products and dairy products. In addition, an experiment is being conducted on labeling bottled water.

For labeling, a two-dimensional code is used in the Data Matrix format, which is applied directly to the product packaging or product label and contains detailed information about the product: name, manufacturer, date, time and place of production.

By 2024, Russia will have a unified national system for labeling and tracking goods. The system operator is the Center for the advanced technology development, which is a private partner in PPP.
