The Ministry of internal affairs (MIA) of Belarus holds a number of pre-investigation checks against officials of the Russian Federal service for veterinary and phytosanitary surveillance (Rosselkhoznadzor). It was reported about on February 7 on the Agency's website.
The Department for combating economic crimes suspected the employees in actions under article 249 ("Discrediting business reputation of a competitor") of the Criminal code of the Republic.
"The Ministry of internal affairs of Belarus has information that individual officials of the Rosselkhoznadzor in the interests not related to their professional activities, without sufficient reasons and in violation of international law limited the possibility of selling of Belarusian goods on the territory of Russia, and also spread false information, damaging domestic producers", — stated in the message.
According to the Ministry of internal affairs, they limited deliveries from 96 farms, direct losses of which amounted to more than 5 million rubles (more than 153 million Russian rubles) only in Minsk region.
"We carry out the necessary procedural steps, checks of financial-economic activity of the processing enterprises with participation of specialists of the State control Committee, Ministry of agriculture and other interested departments", — said in the Ministry of internal affairs. The evidence, as noted, is transferred to the Investigative Committee of Belarus to give a legal assessment.
The DairyNews reminds that the President of the Republic of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko has suggested to Russia to ban the supply of Belarusian meat.
Also The DairyNews wrote that, according to the statement of Russian Deputy Prime Minister Arkady Dvorkovich made at the VIII Congress of the National Union of milk producers, the cooperation between Russian and Belarusian authorities in the sphere of agro-industrial complex is constructive, despite some problems between the two countries.
In addition, our Agency found out that Russia bans imports of beef from New Zealand since February 6 due to detection of ractopamine (a substance used as a feed additive to increase muscle mass) in the meat. Besides, the Ministry may prohibit the supply of fish from the country in connection with the identification of mercury in it.
