The overall level of food dependence in Russia is 5.1%. This was reported by the Director of the Center for agricultural policy of the Institute of applied economic research of the Russian Academy of national economy and Public administration under the President of the Russian Federation Natalia Shagayda during a press conference "The Doctrine of food security or self-sufficiency", reports The DairyNews from the event.
- That's a low figure. As the income of the population grows, so does imports. It is necessary to strive to increase exports, - said the expert.
She also noted that the share of imported food in commodity stocks is reduced and amounts to 23-25%.
- The doctrine, which must be based on the goals of sustainable development, needs to be changed. The existing doctrine does not reflect this, said Shagayda.
She added that the buyer should control the amount of consumed ingredients that are harmful to health.
