The price of raw milk is growing in Russia
According to the application Index RDRC weighted average price of milk in Russia amounted to 21.31 rubles (about 0.27 Euro)/kg, which is 7.02% lower than at the end of August 2017.
At the same time, the Dairy Index RDRC as of August 27, 2018 amounted to 23.19 rubles (about 0.30 Euro)/kg (excluding VAT, fat and protein content - 3.6% and 3.0% respectively), which is 0.6% higher than at the beginning of last week and 5.92% lower than at the end of August 2017. A key factor in the growth of the indicator was the devaluation of the ruble, which significantly increased the price of imports of exchange dairy products, explain analysts of the Russian Dairy Research Center.
The import price index last week rose by 2.25% to 29.51 rubles (about 0.38 Euro)/kg, which is 0.81% lower than in August 2017. With the growth of imports, analysts say, an increase in the price of raw milk in the regions is gaining a trend. Despite the individual factors for each region, currently stimulating both growth and a slight decline in prices, the factor of increase will be the most stable by the autumn season.
In general, market participants note a fairly smoothed dynamics in the price of milk, but taking into account weather conditions they expect its growth in the coming months. In most regions, the grazing season is coming to an end, seasonality in production is smoothed, but the lack of forages, problems with their harvesting in autumn can affect the dynamics of prices in the direction of increase. Most of the enterprises of the industry surveyed by The DairyNews noted the increase in prices in contracts for the purchase of raw milk.
