The American PepsiCo Inc., the second-largest manufacturer of soft drinks, increased its net profit and revenue in the second quarter of 2017 more than market forecasts. According to a press release, its net profit in April-June rose to $2.1 billion, or $1.46 per share, compared to $2.01 billion, or $1.38 per share for the same period of the previous year.
The profit of PepsiCo excluding one-off factors amounted to $1.50 per share. The revenue increased by 2% to $15.71 billion. Analysts on average had forecast adjusted profit of $1.40 per share with the revenue of $15.57 billion.
The revenue of the North American division of Frito-Lay, which produces food products has increased by 3% to $3.68 billion in the last quarter. The revenue of the American division that produces beverages increased by 2% to $5.24 billion.
The revenue of the company from transactions in Europe and Central Africa grew by 6%, to $2.81 billion. In the region, combining Asia, the Middle East and North Africa, revenues decreased by 8%, to $1.6 billion. In Latin America the indicator increased by 6% to $1.82 billion.
PepsiCo raised its forecast for adjusted profit per share for 2017 overall to $5.13 from $5.09. The company also expects organic revenue growth by 3% in the current year
PepsiCo expects to repurchase its own shares in the amount of $2 billion and pay dividends of $4.5 billion until the end of the year.
The value of PepsiCo shares in electronic trading on Tuesday fell by 0.9%, the capitalization of the company stands at $165 billion.
