The Rospotrebnadzor told what penalties await violators of the marking of milk-containing products with milk fat substitute
The Rospotrebnadzor reminded that since July 15, 2018 there are changes in the Technical Regulations of the Customs Union 033/2013 "On the safety of milk and dairy products". These changes introduce a new concept – "milk-containing product with a milk fat substitute", which means the product of milk processing produced with the replacement of milk fat in an amount not exceeding 50 percent.
In this regard, the changes also affected the labeling requirements. The name of the product manufactured using milk fat substitutes now begins with the words "milk-containing product with milk fat substitute". In addition, information about the presence of vegetable oils in a milk-containing product with a milk fat substitute in the form of the following wording "Contains vegetable oils" is indicated on the consumer packaging. This information should be printed in an easy-to-read font on the surface of the package facing the consumer.
The document came into full force in January this year, within 180 calendar days manufacturers must change the information on the packaging of goods.
The Rospotrebnadzor controls the implementation of the requirements; in case of violations, consumers can contact the territorial Department of the Rospotrebnadzor.
