The Rosselkhoznadzor sees no reason for growth of prices for finished dairy products due to the inclusion of this category of goods into the system of electronic veterinary certification "Mercury" since November 1, says the message of the Rosselkhoznadzor.

Since July 2018 Russian producers prepare electronic veterinary certificates (EVC) for livestock products in the "Mercury" system. For a number of products, this requirement has been postponed. Since July 1, 2019, the registration of EVC for all finished livestock products, except for drinking milk, fermented dairy products in consumer packaging and ice cream became mandatory - they were included into the "Mercury" since November 1. Thus, the process of including livestock products into the system of electronic veterinary certification was completed.

"There is no reason to worry about rising prices or disruptions in the supply of products. Electronic certification became mandatory 16 months ago. Producers of meat and fish products, whose products also consist of different components and undergo different stages of processing, have been working in FSIS "Mercury" for more than a year. And there were no interruptions in trade, as well as price increases because of the introduction of EVC", reports the Rosselkhoznadzor.

The Agency also notes that the dairy sector in Russia accounts for a significant share of falsified products. According to the Agency, in 2018, every fifth dairy product on the Russian counter could not meet the quality criteria. The inclusion of finished dairy products into the "Mercury" system is an effective way to solve this problem.

The Rosselkhoznadzor points out that electronic veterinary certification improves the quality and safety of products purchased for budgetary institutions, such as kindergartens, hospitals and schools. At the same time, according to the agency, we can already talk about a decrease in the share of falsified dairy products in the Russian market by 4 percentage points.

"This is evidenced by the results of laboratory studies conducted by the Rosselkhoznadzor. For comparison, for the first nine months of 2018, out of 12,194 thousand samples of the studied milk and dairy products, 2,647 thousand samples - 21.7% - were non-compliant with the quality criteria. For the same period in 2019, out of 12,513 thousand samples of milk and dairy products, 2,214 thousand samples were found to be falsified, which is 17.6%", the report said.
