The Rosstat: import of palm oil in Russia increased by 27% in January-May
In May, the volume of imports amounted to 77.2 thousand tons, which is 29.3% higher than in May last year and 13.1% higher than in April 2018.
Import of coconut, palm kernel or babassu oil and their fractions to Russia decreased by 10.1% to 31.6 thousand tons in January-May this year. In May 2018, the import of these products amounted to 8.3 thousand tons, which is 21.9% higher than in May 2017 and 28.1% higher than in April 2018.
Imports of sunflower, safflower, cotton oils and their fractions for five months increased by 2.1 times – to 13.7 thousand tons. Deliveries of these products in May this year amounted to 2 thousand tons, which is 35.6% higher than in May last year and 31.6% lower than in April 2018.
According to Rosstat, the import of palm oil and its fractions to Russia in 2017 increased by 0.7% compared to 2016 year — up to 891 thousand tons. In July 2018, amendments to the technical regulations on the safety of milk and dairy products entered into force. Now dairy producers are obliged to specify information about the presence of vegetable oils in the milk-containing product with a substitute for milk fat.
In addition, the Ministry of industry and trade of the Russian Federation have prepared a draft resolution, which contains proposals to place milk-containing products with substitutes for milk fat in stores separately from dairy products, which do not contain such substitutes.
