The Rosstat: within six months milk production in Russia amounted to 15.5 million tons
In particular, in the sector of agricultural enterprises, the volume of milk production for six months increased by 4% to 8.2 million tons. The producers in peasant’s farm holdings increased milk production by 4.4% to 1.14 million tons.
At the same time, on private farms, according to the Rosstat, the volume of milk production decreased by 1.9% to 6.13 million tons.
According to the Rosstat, the number of cattle in farms of all categories for six months decreased by 0.1% and amounted to 19.7 million heads on July 1, including cows - 8.3 million heads, which is 0.6% less than during the same period in 2017.
As of July 1, the number of cattle at agricultural enterprises amounted to 8.35 million heads, including 3.3 million cows (-1% compared to the same period last year).
In the sector of peasant’s farm holdings, the number of cattle increased by 4.5% to 2.7 million heads, the number of cows increased by 3.4% to 1.28 million heads.
The private farms traditionally reduce the number of cattle. The materials of Rosstat provide data according to which the number of cattle on private farms in the first half of 2018 decreased by 1% to 8.5 million heads. The number of cows decreased by 1.5% to 3.1 million heads.
