The Russian Federation reduced food imports from non-CIS countries by 1.6% in August – Federal customs service
Compared to August last year, deliveries decreased by 3.4%. In particular, in August compared to July, grain imports decreased by 34.9% to $10.1 million, compared to August last year - by 37.8%. Imports of meat and offal in August compared to July increased by 39.3% to $49.4 million, compared to August last year - decreased by 31.4%.
August deliveries of dairy products in comparison with July increased by 13.2%, to $38.7 million, compared to August last year decreased by 18.1%. Fish shipments in August totaled $77.1 million, which is 40.2% more than in July, and 10.9% less than in August last year. Imports of vegetables in August compared to July decreased by 10.9%, to $38.7 million compared to August last year - increased by 1.2%.
The Federal customs service also reported that in January-August this year, purchases of cereals and raw materials for their production decreased by 34.9%, fruits and nuts - by 23.1%, and vegetables - by 18.9%. At the same time, fish supplies increased by 40.4%, meat and offal - by 39.3%, sugar - by 25.8%, dairy products - by 13.2%, alcoholic and non - alcoholic beverages - by 9.2%, vegetable oil - by 1.8%, tobacco - by 0.8%.
