The current Russian counter-sanctions will be retained, said Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev.
In an interview with Sergey Brilyov in the program “Vesti on Saturday” on the channel "Russia 1" (VGTRK), the Head of the Cabinet of Ministers was asked whether the existing retaliatory Russian sanctions undertaken after Western sanctions against Russia will be retained.
"You mean the so-called counter-sanctions or retaliatory restrictive measures. Of course, they will be retained, because recently our partners in the EU and the Americans again extended the decisions that were previously made", D. Medvedev said.
Speaking about the possibility to cancel the Russian counter-sanctions, Dmitry Medvedev stressed that "this cannot be done because there must be reciprocity".
"Not to mention that the sanctions related to the closure of a number of food flows from Europe were greeted with applause by our farmers", Dmitry Medvedev said.
