The Russian government has approved a project for the production of domestic protein components for evaporated milk formula

‘The government has approved the first comprehensive scientific and technical project of a full innovation cycle. It will be supported by the state,’ said the head of the Cabinet of Ministers.

As the Prime Minister noted, it is symbolic that the decision was made in the Year of Science and Technology. ‘We are talking about creating a pilot production of domestic protein components. They will become the basis of milk powder products that are used in children's nutrition,’ Mishustin explained.

As the Chairman of the Russian government noted, now most of the milk formula for children are made from foreign raw materials. It is important to reduce the dependence of Russian companies on foreign components, to learn how to produce them in the Russian Federation, he stressed.

‘Scientists, business and representatives of federal executive authorities - a total of 16 companies and scientific organizations - will work together to solve this problem. And also the Ministry of Agriculture together with the Ministry of Science and Higher Education,’ Mishustin said.

He added that the project is designed for three years. The total amount of funding will be 1.5 billion rubles. Of these, 300 million rubles will be allocated from the federal budget. ‘We expect concrete results from these investments. Such complex projects of a full innovation cycle are designed to shorten the path from the appearance of an innovative idea to its practical implementation, so that important scientific developments are implemented faster, and not remain on paper,’ the prime minister summed up.
