The State Duma introduced a bill on state regulation of food prices
According to the first initiative, the government of the Russian Federation will be obliged to freeze retail prices for a number of socially important products if they increase in price by more than 30% in a month. "This is meat, fish, milk, eggs, cereals, vegetables from the "borscht set". Under current legislation, the government has the right to regulate prices for food products. Our initiative turns this right into a direct duty of the Cabinet of Ministers", cites the press service S. Mironov.
The second document gives regional authorities the power to limit prices for the same categories of goods. It is also established that retail prices in stores should not exceed the prices of manufacturers by more than 50%, and the prices of wholesale suppliers - by more than 20%.
"Retail chains should moderate their appetites, especially since they are now in a better position. After all, unlike many other businesses, grocery stores are open and working", believes the member of parliament.
