The state program of rural development will be adopted in mid-June - Gordeev
"It was decided by the government that in addition to supporting agricultural business and production there will be a separate program of sustainable development of rural areas, which can be adopted in the middle of June next year", said Gordeev at the forum of student self - government "Leaders of the new century" in Ulyanovsk state agrarian university on Friday.
According to him, the Ministry of agriculture is currently working on this document. "The new program will have little to do with production, but it will be connected with how we create rural settlements or rural space of the 21st century, so that young people are interested in living and working in rural areas, as well as have advantages over urban residents. There are such advantages", - said Gordeev.
The Deputy Prime Minister noted that the rural space makes the life of a person more harmonious. "We would like agricultural universities to take part in the development of this program", he said.
Stressing the importance of rural development, Gordeev said that he is currently studying the experience of the United States in this field, where it is spent for about 16 billion dollars. "We have the entire agricultural budget of 300 billion rubles, we need to be able to defend the needs of the village before the Federal budget", he said.
During the forum Gordeev answered the questions of students, which, in particular, concerned the development of agricultural science, digitalization of agriculture, as well as the development of rural areas. Gordeev also got acquainted with the scientific developments of students in the field of biotechnology, and also visited the center of entertaining biotechnology, whose participants told him about the ongoing research. Rector of the University Alexander Dozorov handed Gordeev a certificate of conferring the title of Honorary Professor of the University.
