There is a shortage of organic products in Russia – Oleg Mironenko

Speaking at the V International agro-industrial dairy forum in Moscow region on Wednesday, the Executive Director of the National Organic Union Oleg Mironenko noted that our country ranks 14th in terms of land certified for the production of organic products. The number of manufacturers of such products is not sufficient, writes The DairyNews from the event.
"Organic agriculture in Russia appeared in 2007, when the first companies that started European certification appeared in Russia. And although the situation with certified land is not so bad, we have 280 thousand hectares, we occupy the 14th place in the world by the acreage of certified land, and there are only 90 certified producers in Russia. We occupy the 135th place in the world", Mironenko said.
The speaker reminded that the Federal law on organic agriculture which comes into force on January 1, 2020 was adopted in summer. A number of regions have already started supporting organic producers.
