On 28 July 2017, the President of Russia Vladimir Putin held a meeting with members of the Government. A report on export potential of Russian agriculture was made by the Minister of agriculture of Russia Alexander Tkachev, reports The DairyNews with reference to the Ministry of agriculture of the Russian Federation.
The Minister noted the positive trend in exports agricultural food products.
"Over the past 5 years the exports of agricultural products and food increased by 25% and amounted to 17.1 billion U.S. dollars in 2016. We have record parameters in the export of grain, while the range of supply is constantly expanding. We increase the export of confectionery, meat, vegetable oil, sugar," – said Alexander Tkachev.
The number of trade partners of Russiais increasing. Last year China was in the same row with the other largest export market – Turkey. Russian exports to China grew by 17% compared with 2015.The top 5 countries that buy Russian agricultural products included Kazakhstan, South Korea and Egypt.
In the current year export of agriculture increased by 17% and exceeded 7.4 billion U.S. dollars. There is a growing supply of wheat, vegetable oils, sugar, pork, poultry and frozenfish.
"Our challenge is to build an effective system of support for implementation of export potential of agro-industrial complex in full measure. One of its tools is a priority project "Export of agricultural products", the implementation of which now is on schedule together with the Russian export center. By 2020 we plan to increase the supply of agricultural products to foreign markets by 27% to 21 billion dollars", – said the Head of the Ministry of agriculture.
Exporters of agricultural products will be supported by lending programs, advisory support, assistance in positioning at international exhibitions and the promotion of popular Russian products abroad (Vologda butter, Adygei cheese, Kamchatka crab, Tambov ham, Bryansk beef, etc.). There are developed export programs for small business and exporting agricultural cooperatives.
There provided additional equipment for the laboratories of the Rosselkhoznadzor for simplifying the work on implementation of the phytosanitary and veterinary requirements of the importing countries, as well as the increase in the number of conducted foreign inspections of Russian agricultural enterprises for accreditation to export and increase the access of agricultural products to foreign markets.
In addition, the Ministry of agriculture created the Center for studies of export of agricultural products for the analytical market research of foreign countries, identifying priority markets and the creation of a unified information support system for agricultural export.
This year, together with the Russian export centre there is being considered the option of compensation of expenses on rail transportation of agricultural products for export.
