TOP 30 regions-leaders in milk production in the agricultural organizations in the first quarter of 2020

In total, according to Rosstat, agricultural enterprises of the Russian Federation on April 1 produced 4.36 million tons of milk. Rosstat notes that the number of cattle in farms of all categories is 18 million heads including just over 8 million milking cows.

As of April 1, agricultural enterprises keep 8.1 million cattle, including 3.25 million cows. The farm sector keeps 2.79 million cattle, including 1.3 million cows. The DairyNews has prepared a rating of 30 regions-leaders in milk production in the agricultural sector on April 1, 2020.

It is worth noting that the rating shows interesting changes compared to the previous year. Bashkortostan has started to increase production - agricultural enterprises in this region have been losing milk all last year.

The top five leaders have changed - Voronezh region has overtaken Udmurtia and occupies a stable third place. Sverdlovsk region came close to the top five, being in the sixth place. In addition, the top ten includes Vologda region, which previously occupied the 13th line of the rating.

Kursk region (+28.3%) and Ryazan region, where a number of major investment projects of the “EkoNiva” holding are being implemented (+23.3%), have become the leaders in terms of production growth. Ryazan region has even overtaken Kaluga region, which held the lead for many months (+19.4%).

For the first time in several years, Kemerovo region and Chuvashia entered the rating - the regions overtook Orenburg and Pskov regions.
