Torsten Hemme: in 2020, there is a high probability of a period of low prices for dairy products
Among the main drivers of prices for dairy products in 2020, the expert identified the following:
1. Retail demand: panic - buying products during the 1st and 2nd waves of the pandemic
2. Falling demand for food services (+ recovery from June onwards)
3. Violations in the supply chain (for example, resources entered by the farm, container availability, and so on)
4. Stockpiling in dairy or food processing plants
5. Increase in official demand for milk in developing countries; increase in imports
6. New: China -the restoration of the population of pigs for 3%
7. The recession, the decline in oil prices, decrease in income => decrease in demand growth for milk
8. The policy of reducing the supply, stocks, demand stimulation, etc.
9. A decrease in supply of milk due to the reduction in milk prices
