UMMC-Agro will build a farm for 10 thousand dairy goats

"UMMC-agro" planned the construction of a farm for 10 thousand dairy goats. This was told by General Director of UMMC-Agro Ilya Bondarev in conversation with The DairyNews on the company's results in goat breeding.
"Currently, "UMMC-Agro" constructed of goat breeding farm for 1800 goats. Milk production on this farm is 2.8 liters per head. We know that the genetic potential of the goats of the Alpine breed allows to reach 3 liters per day during the first lactation, we understand what needs to be done and systematically work in this direction", - said Ilya Bondarev.
The company today makes a significant contribution in providing residents of Sverdlovsk region with new products made of goat's milk. Professionals of UMMC-Agro have developed their own trademark "the Heart of the North" (COEUR duNord – includes goat milk and cheese based on goat's and cow's milk).
"We have built a plant for processing goat milk, where experts of included in "UMMC-Agro" Verkhnyaya Pyshma dairy plant, trained in All-Russian research Institute of butter and cheese-making and in France, produce soft elite cheese. In the future we plan to produce food for children, this product will be especially relevant for the children suffering from intolerance to cow's milk," - said Ilya Bondarev.
Also the General Director of "UMMC-Agro" noted that the company planned the construction of the complex for 10 thousand dairy goats. After the commissioning of the complex, it is expected that daily production of goat milk will be more than 50 tons. Considering the timing for design, construction works and time on the importation of the livestock, some of which will continue to grow at the expense of own forces of the farm the complex will have started operating by 2020.
"In my opinion, goat breeding is the most promising direction in the dairy farming sector of the Russian Federation. Today we have created a fundamentally new production associated with the products from goat's milk. For these purposes, we invited our French colleagues, who helped us both in the establishment of farm management system and production of finished products. We have brought to Russia the biggest in the recent history batch of goats whose milk is highly suitable for making cheese. Goats are kept on a specially selected mixture of feeds, just like in the French Alps, and we produced products according to original French recipe. It took a little over a year and a half from the idea to its implementation; we believe that the products under the brand "the Heart of the North" will be in demand in the market. We plan to sell the products of dairy production and elite cheese throughout Russia. At present we are working in Sverdlovsk region and the nearby regions. We have signed a distribution agreement with a Moscow company, we are konown in the capital and people even come to get acquainted with the production. We, thanks to government support, especially in terms of concessional lending, can afford to continue developing the production," concluded Ilya Bondarev.
