Valio may buy "Galaktika"
RBC Petersburg was informed by a source in the Russian company close to the negotiations, as well as a source in the banking market, that the companies are negotiating and Valio is auditing “Galactika”. Other experts have also heard that “Galaktika” is looking for an investor. "I know that "Galaktika" is considering the possibility of attracting an "anchor" partner in its business", — says the State Duma Deputy from Leningrad region, former Vice-Governor for agriculture of Leningrad region Sergey Yakhnyuk.
The companies themselves have not confirmed the information about the upcoming deal. “Galaktika” has been negotiating cooperation with Valio since its foundation", said Igor Du, Chairman of the group of companies “Galaktika”.
"The main object for Valio investments in Russia was and remains its own plant in Moscow region. Valio is constantly exploring all opportunities and proposals for business expansion. If decisions on such serious steps will take place, the company will inform about it. At the moment, there are no such decisions", reported the press service of LLC "Valio".
The cost of "Galaktika", according to the head of the analytical Department of the MC LMS Dmitry Kumanovsky, may correspond to the value of the company's assets, cleared of liabilities. This figure, according to SPARK, is 1.3 billion rubles.
In difficult situations
The group of companies “Galaktika” was established on the basis of Gatchinsky dairy plant 10 years ago by Maxim Ivanov, owner of the distribution company VTF “Foodline”, and Igor Du, owner of Gatchinsky dairy plant. According to media reports, entrepreneurs have invested in the reconstruction of the plant 2 billion rubles, and Maxim Ivanov, according to the newspaper "Kommersant" then received 50% of the company's shares.
The design capacity of the plant allows to process 400 thousand tons of milk per year. However, according to the Dairy Intelligence Agency, the volume of processing at LLC "Galaktika" in the last two years is declining. In 2017, the company processed 140 thousand tons of milk, in 2018 — 128 thousand tons.
The revenue of the company amounted to 5 billion rubles last year, profit - 84 million rubles, stated in SPARK. At the same time, accounts payable at the end of 2018 amounted to 774 million rubles, short-term liabilities - more than 2 billion rubles.
Among the motives of the owners of "Galaktika" only objective market difficulties (increase in production costs, reduced profitability), but also subjective problems of shareholders can lead to selling part of the business. Since the beginning of this year, VTF "Foodline" is in liquidation, and at the same time Maxim Ivanov, according to him, resigned from the shareholders of "Galaktika". "Thus, the company has lost the main owner, and it needs a new co-owner, able to regularly invest in the development of dairy production", - says one of the market participants.
