Vladimir Kashin: a reduction in the number of cattle from 57 million to 3.4 million milking cows is a disaster for the industry

This was stated by Deputy of the State Duma Vladimir Kashin at the I Congress of breeders, writes The DairyNews from the event.
– We see problems in the production of meat and milk. We have reduced beef production almost 6 times. The biggest problems are in dairy production: there was a reduction in the number of cattle from 57 million to 3.4 million milking cows, it is a disaster. We have to decide whether we want to engage in development within the country or we will import from other countries, – said Kashin.
According to the speaker, milk production of breeding cows in Russia is 11 thousand kg.
– There is a whole range of issues that must be justified and implemented. Together with the Department of animal husbandry and the scientific community, we are doing everything to support our scientists and zootechnicians, – commented Vladimir Kashin.
