Vladimir Putin: the depth of the economic crisis has still to be assessed
"A vaccine is important, but not a panacea. We are all waiting for it. However, the main medical principle - do no harm. Confidence in the reliability of the vaccine must be complete", Russian President Vladimir Putin said in an appeal to citizens, quoted by The DairyNews.
"The acute problem due to the pandemic is the reduction of employment. In April, after restrictive measures, gross national product of Russia fell by 12%. The depth of the crisis has still to be assessed. A new reality is being formed in the world", said Vladimir Putin, emphasizing that leading countries rely on technological independence.
The head of state also said that starting from 2021 the income tax rate would be increased for individuals earning more than 5 million rubles a year. The rate for income over the specified amount is 15%, and the funds will be used to treat children with rare diseases.
